COVID-19 outbreak and the lockdown have affected the mental health of people adversely. As everything starts to open up, a trip to the gorgeous Crete Island is definitely a good idea. You must be eager to take a flight to Greece, rent a car in Crete and enjoy the holiday. However, there are few things you need to know before.
After COVID-19, there are
certain travel restrictions and guidelines that every person visiting Crete
must follow. If you are planning to visit the Island soon, read and understand
the conditions for entering Greece:
Entering
Greece during COVID-19
Who
is allowed?
People from certain
countries can now enter Greece, skipping the quarantine period. These countries
include Australia, Japan, Kuwait, Canada, China, New Zealand, Qatar, Saudi
Arabia, UAE, Ukraine, Thailand and Israel. In addition to that, now people
travelling from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Moldova and Brunei will also be
allowed to enter. However, travellers from the Russian federation require providing
a negative COVID-19 test result to enter Greece.
People from countries other
than the ones mentioned are still not allowed to enter Greece. They would
probably have to wait till next summer to explore the Island!
What
are the Restrictions?
·
Other than the entry, the government has
highlighted that rapid tests will get carried out at different entry points. If
any person has the symptoms, they will have to move to the quarantine hotels
until they test negative for COVID-19.
·
Every traveller needs to fill the passenger
locator form upon arrival. They should provide details of their stay and of the
vehicle if they rent a car in Crete.
·
As travellers explore the Island, there are
various places and ferry rides available. Many of these are only available for
those who have a full vaccination certificate or a negative test result report
which is not more than 72 hours old.
Greece is in a better
position in terms of active COVID-19 cases, but the government is still taking
necessary steps to curb the spread. You will have to obey social distancing
norms and take all the precautions for a safer experience!
Keep all these details in
mind, get vaccinated or carry the negative test report along with you. Book
your stay and rent
a car in Crete before
arrival and enjoy your Greek holiday.
